Personality:

Cecil Harvey on first sight could be considered to be a strong personality, someone who stands firm and against all that opposes what is right. They wouldn't be too far off the mark, though it's taken some time for Cecil to even reach this point to begin with. He's originally shown as someone who is strong and gifted in their role as Dark Knight and captain of the Red Wings of Baron. He's the kind who doesn't ramble aimlessly and does what is needed; it's just a shame that at first the orders he's following aren't right. That being said he is respected enough in his role that his men feel comfortable speaking up about their thoughts on the matter and despite the orders being from the King, Cecil listens to his men and acknowledges it. He even tries to bring it up at one point after a lot of inner turmoil over questioning his King.

His loyalty is something that is steadfast and holds true throughout the game and is where his troubles actually start. Cecil is loyal to the King because the King raised him from childhood. Cecil believes that he owes this man his unwavering loyalty to the point that when he's doing things that aren't right he begins to inwardly question himself and not the King. Cecil struggles to show his emotions and can find it difficult to speak up: first with the King and even at the end when it came to speaking with Golbez, it still takes Cecil a good moment to gather himself to say something and he can be considered a bit meek or soft spoken. His loyalty eventually shines the most with his friends and ties in with a belief that eventually they are doing what is right. Even when his best friend from childhood — Kain — is brainwashed not once but twice to betray him, Cecil still easily forgives him for it. He understands and shows that he isn't one to hold a grudge nor is he one to seek out revenge despite everything that happens around him.

Cecil has also recently found his true self when becoming a paladin, casting aside his self-questioning nature in order to find a firm belief in himself and those around him. He begins to understand his strengths and value, bringing to the group someone who is a strong and capable leader and protector. Despite friends (supposedly) dying around him he makes sure to see the tale through to the end, knowing that if they do not then the world could be doomed forever. He even finds out his own heritage means he is half human and that the bad guy is actually his brother; something that gives him pause but eventually he manages to wrap his head around it to call Golbez brother by the end of it all.

His kindly nature is not something that will ever be taken from him; if there is someone in need then Cecil is going to offer to help. Even when Rydia had torn a literal chasm into the scenery to get rid of him, Cecil still tries to help Rydia. A lot of it comes from a sense of guilt from the bad things done under the orders of the King, to repair what has been damaged and to try to right the wrongs that were done even going so far as to return to Mysidia where a lot of the initial damage had been done. If an apology is owed, Cecil is confident in himself enough to give it and draws strength upon the fact he is no longer the self-questioning dark knight he once was. He may still question himself on occasion but it is nothing compared to his time in Baron and that alone gives him faith that everything will be okay.

He ain't even mad that his best friend misses his wedding. Then again Cecil does seem to be a bit oblivious to the fact that Kain is in love with his fiancée. Despite being an amazing paladin, Cecil can miss the obvious.

Powers: By the end of the game Cecil has given up his mantle as Dark Knight and instead embraced being a paladin, meaning that his Darkness skills are no longer useable. As a paladin he basically becomes a holy protector and his skills showcase that. He still uses plate armour and favours swords and shields but can use axes, staves and bows as well.

Cover: Can intercept attacks against allies, can work instinctively if someone is low on health.
Cure: A low level healing spell.
Libra: Able to see an enemy's weaknesses and health (would be nerfed completely for Erku).
Protect: A spell for the group that gives extra defence against physical attacks.
Shell: A spell for the group that gives extra defence against magical attacks.
Cura: A stronger version of cure (would take up a lot of mana in Erku to prevent overuse).
Teleport: Moves the group to the dungeon entrances (absolutely will not work in Erku).
Esuna: Cures status ailments.
Raise: Brings a dead party member back to life (totally not working in Erku).

Inventory: His sword Excalibur, his armour, shield and not much else.

[It's not long before Cecil eventually finds some of his armour, retrieving them from a kindly robot who seems to have taken pity on someone standing there in just a towel. Apparently his cloak is gone; Cecil heard something about it being kept to be used with the next mural model and considering the ones he'd seem on the walls, Cecil had simply opted to say nothing. If they truly liked that cloak so much then they were welcome to keep it. This whole event has not been the best, but the beings at the "Spa" had been welcoming enough and Cecil knows he cannot fault them for it.

Eventually the paladin makes his way to the beach, reaching up to brush pale hair from his face each time a gust of wind takes hold. He doesn't know where he's going, doesn't know this place and it's strange surroundings and soon enough Cecil opts to sit on the sand, staring out and watching the waves in their soothing, rhythmic motions. Everything back home had been so busy, so hectic and loud that the quiet of this place is almost jarring. There had been the battle on the moon to defeat Zeromus, a harsh and powerful clash of weapons against powers until ultimately, good prevailed. FuSoYa had opted to remain on the moon and so had Golbez. Cecil sighs when he thinks of that mess. Golbez, a brother who had abandoned him as a child and gone on to commit so many atrocities and yet Cecil couldn't bring himself to hate the other. He doesn't really know what to think on that, pausing in his reflections to run a hand through the sand, purple gaze following the grains as they move under his fingers.

This place is strange and unusual enough to be on the side of unnerving. Cecil still isn't sure on the reasoning, but he knows he can focus on the things he does know. Back home everyone is safe. The twins were probably winding the Mysidian Elder up something rotten, Edge would be pointedly ignoring Rydia and Rydia would be returning the favour. Cecil gives a small smile at that; one day they would figure it out. Undoubtedly Cid would be helping with the rebuilding effort whilst Fang and Edward both headed back to their own respective cities. Both of them were completely different from the other, one devoted and unbreakable, the other uncertain and wary. Yet thinking about them, Cecil would consider them both strong in their own respective ways. Edward especially had grown a lot despite his losses.

Then there was Kain and Rosa. Cecil looks up to the sky, lifting a hand to shield his eyes from the sun. He knows he doesn't need to worry about those two. He would trust Kain with his life even if his friend didn't feel worthy of it too recently. Kain had been quick to leave once they'd returned from the moon but the paladin had faith they would see him again sometime. Everyone had their own demons to battle, something Cecil knew all too well. Meanwhile the kingdom of Baron would do well with Rosa in charge until he got back. Cecil can't help the pang in his chest when thinking of his soon to be wife. They had been through so much, he just hoped Rosa would not worry too much for him before he returned. Just a little longer.....

Cecil closes his eyes, taking a deep breath before steeling himself. He's going to have to go back to the Spa to ask for some directions and he's going to need his wits about him or Cecil dreads to think where he'll end up.
